Surge analysis: A 3D transient analysis of a lift irrigation scheme demonstrates the water levels achieved in surge pool for an upsurge and down surge experienced while switching off and on of pumps.

Surface vortices check: For sumps of the pump houses and open channels of lift irrigation schemes, it is important to avoid occurrence of surface vortices as they capture and bring air pockets to the pump impellers damaging them as a result due to high pressure fluctuations.

Flow patterns: Studying flow patterns to identify swirl regions and overall turbulence intensity in the flow resulting in higher or lower pressure drops.
